Faith of Our Mothers is a unique approach to well-known stories, helping to bring biblical characters to life before our eyes. This book contains many monologues that portray biblical women who went above the expectations of the day, eager to teach others about the love of God. Through use of these monologues, lay people and church leaders alike can don the personalities of women such as Eve, Mary, Esther, and more.

This work can be used for church women’s groups, during Wednesday night fellowship, vacation bible school, worship services and seasonal services. These portrayals allow for classic stories to be revisited in a new light, as well as bring lesser-known tales to the foreground.

Although this book does consist of monologues and costume ideas for each performance, there is no difficulty falling into the roles provided by LaNell Johnson. Her words allow the performances to be memorized or read aloud while maintaining their message about God’s dedication and love for God’s people.

LaNell Johnson received her education from Scarritt College for Christian Workers and Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, TN. She has since served as deacon, diaconal minister and as elder in various churches around North Carolina, where she currently lives. She often helps at her local clothing and food pantry and was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Kernersville, NC. LaNell also enjoys writing monologues, poetry, devotionals, children’s books and watching the Washington Football team.
