“How are we going to get along in heaven with people we can’t stand on earth?” This is an inelegant but honest question about church conflict, and how it affects the local body of Christ.

-From the Introduction

In Others: Sermons We Should Be Preaching to Ourselves, a series of messages based on the Lectionary, Cycle A, written from the gospel texts, by Dr. Steve Molin, the reader will find illustrations that help to explain God’s message in new and interesting ways. Finding the stories and word pictures that more easily tie into the lectionary readings for each Sunday will help the person in the pulpit make his or her sermon more compelling to the people in the pews.

As I read this book, I am reminded of why I spent so many years in the pew listening to Pastor Steve. Common-sense, down-to-earth lessons taken from scripture where God’s grace and mutual respect lie at the heart of his preaching. Compassionate medicine for wounded souls. I would recommend anything this person writes! His vulnerability encourages me and gives me the courage to do and be the same.

The Reverend Steve Molin’s writing emerges from a heart grounded in decades of congregational ministry. His passion, humor and humility are evident as he shares the truth of who we are as a people and why we are a people that need God and one another. He has perfected the ability to see and hear between the lines and to take difficult biblical texts and make them relatable and pertinent to us today. May he inspire you to find this connection with those you serve, that they may be drawn closer to the saving power of Jesus.
