Elton P. Richards served pastorates in three parishes in Pennsylvania before assuming the position of senior pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1989. He served as a pastor/evangelist of the Lutheran Church in America and was chaplain of the national convention in 1982. He is the author of "Outreach Preaching" and serves as vice-president of the Academy of Preachers.
